How To Set Up Purchased Domain Name from Godaddy in Blogger Blog


A domain name is an essential for a website. This is the human-readable address of your site – without one, your website would just be found by a string of numbers representing the computer it’s on. A domain name consists of up to 3 parts:


  • www. – indicates that it’s a web address (optional – see below)
  • example – the main part of the domain, usually representing a company or organisation name

This tutorial will teach you how to set up your custom top level domain you purchased from Godaddy to your blogger blog.



Step 1 : Go to your blogger dashboard. On the page, click "Settings" tab and go to "Basic"


Step 2 : Under publishing select and click on "setup a third party url" for your blog on Blogger


Step 3 : Below third party url settings before http:// put your domain name that you bought from Godaddy and put prefix www. For instance www.ogbongetechs.com

Step 4 : Go to your Godaddy account and in a new tab and Click on view settings instructions to view the instructions on the page click on top level Domain Like www.yourblog.com. Beneath those instructions you will find four(4) Ip addresses..Copy and Save them

Step 6 : Go back to your blogger dashboard. On the Basic Page, Save the third-party domain. It will not save, you will see an error.

Step 7 : Then under the error you will find two fileds which are Name, Label, or host field and Destination, target or points to field. Copy every thing from there and paste it to notepad.


Step 8 : Now go back to Godady window and click on Your account on the upper right corner then select "Manage my domain"


Step 9 :  Click on your domain name, Tap "DNS zone file" then choose classic DNS Manager
>> Click Edit and edit your DNS zone File


How To? 

Step 1 : Below the CNAME(alias) menu, click Quick Add at the bottom

Step 2 : Input www in the first box and ghs.google.com, Click Quick Add and add the Ip addresses you copied when getting error in blogger.


Step 3 : Below A (Host) menu again select Quick Add again

Your host will be @ and point to your Google Ips

Step 4: Now input all four (4) Ips and delete the default or old ones. Then you click on save zone file button

Step 5 : Go back to Blogger and Save Again. Here, you won't get error, your domain will be saved.

Click on Edit link next to Domain name on your settings. Then redirect your site address so that your visitors will go to your new domain. Finally you got a new domain.
