How To Prevent Your Blog From Spam Comments Containing Spammy Links


Spam in blogs (also called simply blog spam, comment spam, or social spam) is a form of spamdexing. (Note that blogspam also has another meaning, namely the post of a blogger who creates posts that have no added value to them in order to submit them to other sites.)

Spam Comments are unnecessary and useless comments made by blog readers just to get "banklinks" to their website. Spam comments might involve Bot. Spam Comments can cause big trouble if they are not prevented as quick as possible. Today in this tutorial, I will teach you how to stop comments containing spams in your blogger blog.



How To Get Started 

1. Log on to your Blogger Dashboard
2. On the Dashboard Page, Tap "Settings" and go to "Posts Comments and Sharing"
3. Navigate to the "Comment Section
4. You will see 4 Options under it namely

Who can comment
Comment Moderation
Show Word Verification
Show back links.

You just need to set up the options listed above except the first which is "Who can comment"

Comment Moderation : This is a feature in blogger blog that helps helps admins review it scrutinize comments before they are published. A link will appear on your dashboard when there are comments to review. Therefore, you will see the spam comment or comments before deleting or approving them.

Show Word Verification : Enabling this will on your blogger blog require people leaving comments on your blog to complete a word verification step, which will help reduce comment spam. <a href="https://support.google.com/blogger/answer/42520" target="help">Learn more</a>. Only Admins or Blog authors will not see word verification for comments.



To Set Up these Two Features ? 
  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. Select the blog to update.
  3. In the left menu, select Settings > Posts, comments and sharing.
  4. Set your comment location, who can comment on your posts, and other settings:
  5. Select Embedded, to allow you or readers to respond to other comments on the post.
  6. In “Who Can Comment,” select Anyone including Anonymous.
  7. Choose how often to approve comments with Comment Moderation.
  8. Click "Save Settings" 

Approving or Deleting a Comment 

  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. Select the blog to update.
  3. In the left menu, click Comments > Awaiting moderation.
  4. Read the comment and approve, delete, or mark it as spam.
  5. Publish or reject comments from your email
  6. If you enter an email address to manage comments, you will get an email when you get a new comment.
  7. In the email, click Publish or Reject.
  8. If you reject a comment, it will be deleted

Type Of Comments You should not approve? 

The kind of comments you should approve are comments containing appreciation towards a post on your blog. Do not approve comments with names like companies,keywords or others.

Mostly, spammers comment using keywords as name because they want links and rank that particular keywords. They are doing this indirectly to get what they want (audience) without working for it.
